While you’ll probably want to spend a lot of your time at the beach or taking tours, you can add this to your list of things to do during your stay! This youth soccer tournament is famous in the area, and thousands of people flock to Carolina Beach and the surrounding areas to let their children play or watch other teams compete.
If you’ve never heard of the Seaside Classic, we’re here to share a little bit about the tournament and what you can expect.
About the Seaside Soccer Classic
The Carolina Beach Seaside Classic Soccer Tournament is a youth soccer tournament that happens every year. The Wilmington Hammerheads Youth team is the event’s official host, and they gather as many local sponsors as possible.
The tournament is an unrestricted event and open to all USYS and Affiliate State Associations and US Club soccer teams. The 30th annual tournament will be held in 2024. The tournament brings together youths ready to go for the win. Generally, there are more than 250 teams ready to play one another, with more than 4,000 team members.
They have various age groups, ranging from 11 to 19, all with bronze, silver, or gold winnings.
The 2024 tournament will be held on May 18th and 19th and is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the area like it has in previous years. The deadline to register for the event is April 17, 2024.
Previous Years
This tournament has been going on for almost 30 years, getting bigger every year. It’s almost always hosted in May, but the dates will vary depending on what days line up with the weekend they want to host the tournament.
Last year, in 2023, 325 teams showed up to play, and they had a completely sold-out event. The cities of Carolina Beach and Wilmington are expecting a bigger turnout every year thanks to the exciting event, and you can expect lots of fun while you’re here!
