There are many exciting things to do in Carolina Beach, both on and off the water. One of the most enjoyable and memory-making experiences you can do is taking advantage of one of the Carolina Beach fishing charters available in the area.
Fishing in Carolina Beach is a popular activity; from the 700-ft. Kure Beach Fishing Pier to inshore and offshore fishing charters, there are many opportunities to cast a line and reel in some spectacular catches.
Let’s explore your options for fishing charters so you can plan your next vacation adventure outside of one of our Carolina Beach vacation rentals.
Carolina Beach Fishing Charters
Whether you’re seeking to do some inshore, nearshore, or offshore fishing, you can consider booking with one of the following three Carolina Beach fishing charters to ensure a successful and fun-filled day.
Hot Ticket Fishing Charter
Bringing over 30 years of fishing experience on Carolina waters, Captain Bill Kane of Hot Ticket Fishing Charter offers offshore trolling and live bait fishing excursions. These trips can be booked for four, five, six, eight, or 10 hours. A 13-hour Gulfstream fishing event is also offered.
The boat is a 39-ft. Custom Harris Sportfish with top-of-the-line fishing gear and tackle, the best electronic fish-finding equipment, three fighting chairs, and upper and lower helm stations will be things to expect on the tour. The boat was overhauled in January 2021, from all-new custom fishing rods to an Apollo Bluetooth and Apple Airplay stereo system.
Hot Ticket is located at 300 Canal Drive.

Charlies Fishing Charter
Captain Charles Powell of Charlies Fishing Charter also has over 30 years of experience, and he offers inshore and nearshores fishing trips on his 24-ft. Carolina Skiff with center console T-top. Advanced anglers and beginners looking for a light tackle fishing experience are welcome.
The nearshore fishing charter targets Spanish and king mackerel as well as bluefish and Bonita, while the nearshore wreck fishing goes for a wider variety, such as flounder, grey trout, black sea bass, sharks, and many others. You could reel in flounder, speckled trout, sheep’s head, bluefish, croaker, and spots on inshore trips.
Four, five, and six-hour excursions for up to four anglers are available. Charlies also offers sightseeing cruises! All fishing trips include fishing equipment, bait, and ice.
Charlies Fishing Charter operates seven days weekly, from 6 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Wild Rover III
From trolling nearshore to “hardcore offshore fishing action,” your fishing adventure aboard the Wild Rover III with Captain Dave Tilley, a life-long fisherman, is sure to be memorable and rewarding.
Captain Tilley has chartered boats ranging from 25 to 56 feet, party boats, and commercial fishing boats. The Wild Rover III is a 52-ft. Henriques 44 Sport Fisherman, with a tremendous 700-square-foot cockpit, comfortably accommodates all anglers. The boat is heated and air-conditioned with modern fishing-finding electronics, a fridge, microwave, and more than the regulated USGC safety equipment.
Choose from four, five, and six-hour nearshore trolling trips for Spanish mackerel and bluefish and shark fishing; eight-hour trips trolling for amberjacks, barracuda, and Spanish and king mackerel; or full-day 10, 12, or 14-hour offshore fishing adventures. The Wild Rover III is also available for a 14-hour Gulfstream trolling excursion of mahi-mahi, blackfin and yellowfin tuna, blue marlin, and sailfish.
The Wild Rover III docks are located at Carolina Beach Municipal Docks on Carl Winner Drive.
What to Bring and Expect
For all Carolina Beach fishing charters, fishing equipment such as rods and bait are included, as is ice for coolers. All charters also have a blanket saltwater fishing license, so you would not need to obtain an individual permit.
Fishing in Carolina Beach on a fishing charter is typically BYOB (Bring Your Beverage; some might allow alcohol in moderation) and your own food, too. It’s a good idea to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a sun hat, and a light jacket, too, as being in the water could be colder.
Captains on Carolina Beach fishing charters employ their many years of fishing experience to ensure all guests have a successful fishing excursion, so you’re practically assured to reel in some fish you can brag about later.
